Kaplan, Issachar


Issachar, the only son of Chaya and Meir Kaplan, was born in 1930 in Haifa. After the establishment of the State of Israel, he was posted to the Negev Brigade of the Palmach and served in Dorot, Ruhama And Nirim. He took part in the “Philist” operation, the attack on the Egyptian column in Ashdod, and his battalion attacked the enemy formation from the south. The attacking force encountered enemy fire and was forced to withdraw. On the 25th of Iyar (3.6.1948) he fell and he was transferred to eternal rest with his comrades-in-arms who fell with him in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
