Kane, Mordechai-Yechiel (Weiss)


Son of Tzippora and Yitzhak, was born on 21.6.1927 in a small town in Hungary. The family moved to Budapest, where they grew up and were educated. Mordechai was a nice boy and a good student. When he was 12 years old, he discovered Zionism and joined the Betar movement in the city and became an active member of it.In the Nazi conquest of Hungary, Mordecai was taken to a forced labor camp, where he stood out for his help and help. 1945 When the Soviet forces arrived in Budapest, he immigrated to Palestine in June 1946 and settled in Hadera, and immediately joined the ranks of the Irgun and became an active member. The British, who knew about his underground activities, searched for him and therefore adopted the name Mordechai Weiss. Mordechai participated in the conquest of Jaffa and the battles in the mountains of Ephraim and Rosh Ha’ayin. On May 18, 1948, Mordecai fell in an attack on Ramla and was brought to eternal rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
