Kamzon, Moshe-Yehezkel
Son of Tzippora-Fruma and Shalom-Mordechai, brother of the poet YD Born in the city of Varna in 1924, Kamzon was born in the city of Varna, Lithuania, and studied in a Hebrew elementary school in 1936. At the age of 16 he joined the “Netzach Israel” elementary school in Petah Tikva and the school in Givat Brenner. He was a member of a youth group in Kibbutz Dalia, and was well-liked and honest with his friends and acquaintances, he aspired to study and excelled in geography and knowledge of the country. When the War of Independence began in December 1947, he volunteered for the army and was sent for training. He served in one of the Givati Brigade regiments. On April 20, 1948, the Arabs concentrated considerable force and attacked Nitzanim. In order to ease the pressure on Nitzanim, at night, Givati attacked the village of Beit Daras and purified it. As the force regrouped, Arab reinforcements arrived, as well as armored vehicles of the British police. The force retreated under heavy fire. On April 21, 1948, he was seriously injured in the head and was unconscious at Beilinson Hospital until he passed away on May 31, 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
