Kamer, Moshe

Moshe, son of Miriam and Mordechai Aryeh Kramer, was born on 27 Kislev (28/12/1921) in Chelm, Poland. He finished elementary school and went to work. When the Polish People’s Army was formed there in 1943, he enlisted, attained the rank of sergeant in an armored brigade and took part in the campaign to liberate Poland and conquer East Germany. After the victory he no longer wanted to remain in the Diaspora. Moshe climbed aboard the illegal immigrant ship “LaNagev”, was captured by the British and transferred to the Cyprus detention camp for a year and in 1947 came to Israel with his wife. Shortly after his arrival, the War of Independence broke out and Moshe was drafted immediately. He was assigned to the Alexandroni Brigade and participated in operations in the Triangle and in the Faluja pocket. In November 1948, the brigade descended south. The Alexander Forces burst into the village from the south and took over the area, but the assault was repulsed and the Egyptians recovered, attacked and forced our forces to withdraw. Part of the force was trapped inside the village. In this battle, Moshe fell on the 26th of Kislev 5709 (December 28, 1948), on his 27th birthday. He was buried in Faluja and later transferred to the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery. He left behind a wife and child.
