Son of Badia and Muhammad. Kamal was born on May 24, 1954, in the village of Julis. The village is located in the western Galilee, east of the city of Acco, and is considered the spiritual center of the Druze community. The spiritual leaders of the community were born and raised: Shaykh Tarif Tarif, his son Sheikh Amin Tarif and his successor Sheikh Muwafaq Tarif. Kamal grew up in Julis. When he was five years old, he entered elementary school, where he successfully completed eight years of study. Afterward, he continued to study at the Yarka Comprehensive High School, but as a loyal family member he had to devote most of his time to work to help support the family. On May 16, 1972, Kamal enlisted in the IDF, serving in the Border Police. In October 1973, during the Yom Kippur War, Kamal was in the officers’ training course and the unit of the apprentice was sent to fight in the Sinai, where they were almost captured by the Egyptians, but succeeded in hiding. At the end of the war Kamal went to serve as a commander in the Qalqiliya Border Police, and Kamal was quiet, modest and loved by his friends. His commanders told him that he was a model, professional, dedicated and loyal fighter. Second Sergeant Kamal Harbawi fell during his service on 20.10.1974. He was twenty years old. He was laid to rest at a full military ceremony at the Jolis cemetery, where he was buried in the family plot.
