Kalumite, Jacob


The son of Shmuel and Luna. He was born on September 26, 1950 in Beer-Yaakov. From childhood he had excelled wisely. He attended elementary school “Deganya” in the castle. He was a sports fan and played with his friends in the neighborhood and at school. After graduating from elementary school, he was accepted to the ORT vocational high school in the David camp and completed his studies as a car mechanic at the Sprinzak School. He was cheerful and full of joy, but at the same time modest and disciplined. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in May 1968 and assigned to the Armored Corps. He fulfilled his role with love and devotion and did all he could to be a good and helpful soldier. He would come home for short vacations, and his last vacation was in August 1969, after a long period of absence. On September 18, 1969, he fell in battle in the Suez Canal area. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. His name and picture are embedded in the booklet “Company L” is released.
