Kalman, Kalman


Son of Israel. He was born in 1923 in Bochnia, Poland (Western Galicia), where he studied at the elementary school and at an early age he joined the Akiva Zionist youth movement in 1935. He immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1935, As a member of the kibbutz in Beer-Yaakov, he was handsome, tall and fair-haired, and as one of his friends testified, “He was soaked in love for the country and for his work, and his love did not fade away from his years of labor. ” In guarding and participating in Hagana activities, Kalman and some of his friends left the kibbutz and built houses near them on the lands of the Jewish National Fund. In September 1938 he was about to enter the new houses, but on 15 Elul, September 11, 1938 Kalman was shot and killed in an orchard, ambushed and killed on the spot, and was brought to eternal rest in Beer Yaakov. He is remembered in the newspaper “Devar” and the kibbutz publication.
