Kahlo, Naor

Naor, son of Barbara and Avner Kahlo, was born in 1981 in Kibbutz Maagan Michael. At the end of March 2000, Naor enlisted in the IDF and was accepted to an elite unit in the engineering corps. In addition to being a combat soldier, Naor also worked as a medic and sniper and successfully completed a lifeguard course. On August 9, 2006, a missile hit the building in which Naor was with a hundred and twenty other fighters in the village of Debel in southern Lebanon. Naor and some of his friends had already realized that it was dangerous to sleep in a closed building. They decided to break a wall and sleep outside in a safer place, so that the first missile fired at them did not hurt them. Naor, who also served as a medic in the unit, did not hesitate and immediately ran to help the injured soldiers. He started treating them, but another missile fired by Hezbollah hit him and killed him. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael. Naor was promoted to the rank of sergeant after his death.
