Kahane, Menahem (Manny)
Son of Mordechai (HaKohen) and Eva. He was born on the 15th of Tevet 5715 (15.12.1956) in Haifa. He attended elementary school in Oklahoma, United States. Afterward, he continued his studies at the Y. Fichman School in Haifa and at the Alliance High School in Haifa and completed his studies at the vocational secondary school in the city of Ramat Gan. And talented, he graduated from the telephony department and was awarded the title of qualified teleprinter technician, was accepted by the company and acquired many friends, and was optimistic, full of joy and smiles, a devoted son to his parents and younger sister, A-Air is sent on a tour of Canada for three weeks. Prior to his recruitment, he managed a youth club in his area of residence. Menachem was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in July 1975. After completing his course in the Intelligence Corps, he was sent to the officers’ course in 1977, After completing the courses he was awarded the rank of Second Lieutenant and was sent to an Intelligence Corps unit. The commander of the unit, Menachem (Manny), was a young officer, full of life and energy, smiling and good-hearted, and quickly integrated into the unit, was full of confidence and a strong desire to learn the job in the best possible way. From a calm and permanent smile on his lips, so he became so fond of everyone around him – soldiers as officers. ” On the 27th of Shevat 5738 (February 4, 1978) Menachem fell while serving in the north of the country. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his parents and sister. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. His family donated a Torah scroll to his synagogue in his neighborhood.
