But he received everything in good spirits and graduated with honors from the technical school. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early 1968 and volunteered for the air force as a ground crew member, and excelled in his position and fulfilled all his responsibilities, but he refused to go to the officers’ course and sign a permanent army service. Yair appealed to him to continue serving for another year in the army, but Yair hesitated: he understood security needs because he specialized in his profession and held very responsible positions, but he knew that his parents expected him to return to work in the agricultural farm.
