Kachova, Shlomo


Son of-Bila-Gitel and Haim, was born on the 5th of Iyar, 5628, in the city of Lutsk, Poland, and attended elementary school. When the Germans entered the city and set up a ghetto for Jews, he escaped from the ghetto, a 12-year-old boy, and joined the Jewish partisans who were active in the area. He held out until the Russians came, joined the Red Army, and attended an officers’ school. After the liberation he joined the “Ha – Shomer ha – Tsa’ir” kibbutz in Buchenwald. With some of his friends, he boarded the illegal immigrant ship “Wedwood” as part of Youth Aliyah, and joined Kibbutz Gat. At the beginning of the War of Independence he was drafted and transferred to Jerusalem. He joined the “Moriah” battalion of the Etzioni Brigade on June 1, 1948 and was in the Schneller camp, where he went to the tower to prepare an attack plan for Sheikh- He was buried in Sheikh Bader A. On September 10, 1950, he was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
