Joamis, Yasser
Yasser, son of Amneh and Hassan Jamis, was born on 20 April 1972, in Nazareth. He grew up in Zarzir in the north of the country. Yasser attended elementary school in Zarzir and went on to a junior high school in the “Amal” school in the town. From the early years he stood out as a good student, responsible and mature. On March 25, 1992, Yasser enlisted in the IDF, and after completing basic and advanced training, he was sent to a course for scouts which he completed successfully and served as a tracker in the Samaria Brigade.
On the forty-fifth anniversary of the State of Israel, he was awarded a certificate of excellence. Yasser married Jamila, a relative of his family, and they set up their home in Zarzir, where their three children grew up. Yasser was a devoted husband and father.
In June 2014, after terrorists kidnapped and murdered three young men in Samaria, rocket fire from the Gaza Strip to Israel increased, and Israel launched Operation Tzuk Eitan against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Yasser was killed in an operational operation on July 11, 2014. He was laid to rest in the Joemis-Zarzir cemetery.
