Jerphy, David

Jerphy, David

Son of Aharon and Yonah. Born on 30.8.1957 in Herzliya, as a son of a well-to-do family of Yemenite origin, he studied at the Yesodei Hatorah School in Herzliya and later at the Rambam School in the same city. He became fond of his classmates, mainly because of his cheerful temper and broad smile, which poured out in every situation and every opportunity. David decided to study a profession – mechanical frameworks – and registered at the Or Moshe vocational school in Tel Aviv. He spent three years studying and preparing for his military service. He was able to join a professional force in the IDF, but preferred to volunteer for a combat unit, and was proud when he was accepted to Golani, and the sense of humor he enjoyed was also something in his unit – even when he was serious about matters Five months after his enlistment David fell during his service – on the 9th of Shevat 5736 (11.1.1976). He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Herzliya. Survived by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
