Jeddah, Saadia


Born in 1913 in the city of Damar, Yemen, he immigrated to Israel in 1924. He studied in the “Heder” and lived in Rishon Letzion. When he grew up he was first an agricultural laborer in the orchards of the settlement and Karmia, and then worked for 17 consecutive years in the winery. He was a carpenter and supported his family with dignity. In 1936 Saadia joined the Haganah and was accepted for every call. In May 1948 he joined the Givati ​​Brigade. Participated in the “Yoav” operation for the breakthrough to the Negev and fell in the battle of Bahata, east of the Negev, on the 12th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 15, 1948). He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rehovot.
