Jacobson, Pesach

Jacobson, Pesach

Son of Esther and Benjamin. Born in Tel Aviv on June 30, 1918. At a young age, the family moved to Petach Tikva where he attended elementary school for workers’ children and for a short period attended a high school in the city. The British Army was assigned to the Transport Corps on May 1, 1943, when the ship “Arinpora”, which made its way to Malta, was bombed by Germans and Pesach, along with one hundred and thirty-nine of its members, drowned in the sea. In the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, a ship-shaped monument was erected in memory of the missing, and next to it is a water pool with the names of the fallen engraved on the bottom. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
