Jacobson, Amnon


Son of Zvi and Naomi. He was born on the 23rd of Kislev 5703 (23/11/1942) in Rehovot. In his childhood he was shaken by wandering and wandering; He was four years old when his family moved to Moshav Shear Yashuv in the Hula Valley. But since his father’s enlistment in the IDF, his mother, Amnon and his sister, have moved to Nahalal in the valley, and when Amnon arrived at school, his shaking did not end, because in 1951 his parents again moved to the Yogev Yeshiva, Afula, a few kilometers away from his home, but Amnon overcame these difficulties, was a good student and, together with his studies, became part of the children’s company and even in their sports activities. He continued to be a serious student and worked out of responsibility He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement and his love for the sport he showed when he was a student and discovered that he belonged to Hapoel. When he completed his studies in Kfar Galim and reached the age of enlistment, he volunteered to join a combat unit and wanted to be a pilot, but because of a partial flaw in color perception, he was not accepted into this corps and had to give up his dream of flying. But he saw no way and did not even want to get away from the airport – and in August 1961 he volunteered for the paratroopers. Even after his discharge from the IDF, he had a strong connection to aviation, and even when he was young, Amnon tended to dismantle machines, and this “occupation” showed his tendency toward mechanics. He was quiet and humble, and at the same time Simcha and cheerful, even in his youth he would not complain about various difficulties and during his army service he was willing to overcome them with his training was difficult. After his military service, he struggled to acquire a profession and a social status while working and studying in the evenings, but with good spirit and without complaint. Loved a friend and made friends with his willingness to help others. Because of this, he had friends all over the country and in his workplace. In the last year of his life, he prepared plans for his future with his choice of Lev. When he was summoned to reserve duty before the outbreak of the Six-Day War, as he had been called before, he came out of his own confidence and reassured his parents by saying to them: “Do not worry … everything will be all right. But Amnon went out and did not return, because in the battle that took place on Ammunition Hill on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), the second day of the battles, a bullet landed near the officers’ quarters, after breaking into the communications channel. Was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Was going to marry his wife a month after the war. In the book “Marinas Gabro” of the Paratroopers Command was brought his biography and description of his last sacrifice. A pamphlet issued by the Jezreel Regional Council raised his memory.
