Jacobovitch, David


Son of-Yehudit and Zvi, was born on October 10, 1923. In the city of Pils, Poland, David studied in an elementary and professional school and worked with his father in Tzfun, and survived the horrors of the war and the extermination camps of the Nazis. The ship that brought immigrants to Galil, and when they arrived in Haifa, they were interned in the Atlit camp, where David fled to Kibbutz Ein Hayam and then came to Netanya and worked in Tzemon with his father and brothers. Around him and in his conversations about the problems of the people and the country he showed great courage and expressed original opinions as a personal interest in the success of the enterprise When the War of Independence broke out after the United Nations General Assembly resolution on the partition of the country, he participated in training and guarding and excelled in training and devotion to every position assigned to him. Due to family reasons, he was not accepted into regular service at the beginning of the War of Independence and then joined the Etzel forces and went to battle on Rosh Ha’Ayin, and after the conquest of the place he remained among his guards on May 30, 1948 in the counterattack of the Iraqis In a better force, he bravely stood up to them and fought with fire for the withdrawal of his comrades until he was seriously wounded. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
