Jacobin, Yaakov (“Yankele”)


Son of Moshe and Sneem. He was born on the 24th of Adar I 5703 (1.3.1943) in the city of Teheran which is in Persia. Family Ownership In 1952 they joined Moshav Beit Elizari near Ekron and made a living from the farm they established. Yaakov attended elementary school there and completed his studies there successfully. He then studied at a vocational high school in Nes Ziona and specialized in frameworks. During his free time he helped his parents in their rehabilitation and helped them with their livelihood. In the evenings, he was active in a youth movement. Was involved in society and participated in all social activities and also gave his hand to all athletic sports. In his youth, he belonged to the Gadna, was calm and quiet and had never raised his voice when there was some debate about politics or sports – and he always convinced his interlocutor calmly and pleasantly and proved the rightness of his considerations. He was a disciplined soldier in the full sense of the word and daring to perform any task he was assigned to, and after his service he found his life in the army, and his girlfriend, then his wife, The youth company gradually entered her family with his Yaffa and gentle manners “Now I can think about my own household unit.” Wanted to join young agriculture and yes he did. After his release from the army stood willingly every call to reserve duty and the Six Day War was among the first called to duty. He found his death in a battle that took place in Qantila, Sinai, on the second day of the fighting, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), when the tank he was in was hit by enemy fire. Put a wife in her pregnancy and five months after fell his first born son was named after him. He was buried in the military emergency cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot.
