Jacob, Moshe

Moshe, son of Deborah and Mordechai, Jacob was born on the 11th of Iyar (25.4.1926) in the city of Salonika, Greece. When he was nine years old, the family immigrated to Israel. Moshe grew up in Haifa, worked as a driver in a private car and supported his parents. He was an active member of the Haganah in Haifa, but at first did not enlist in full mobilization because of his concern for his parents. Meanwhile, a tragedy happened in his family – his brother-in-law fell in one of the battles. Moshe set out to avenge his blood. Although he was not sufficiently trained, he took part in a difficult combat operation and was attached to a battalion in the Carmeli Brigade. When he was in the police post in Sejera, he was injured in the leg and did not withdraw due to this wound. Moshe fell with the few who remained in the area on the 4th of Sivan, June 10, 1948. Upon his release from the enemy, he was buried in the military cemetery in Afula .
