He studied at the Amal elementary school in Kfar Yona and continued his studies at the Bar-Ilan religious public school in Netanya. Although he had successfully learned, he decided at the end of 10th grade to change his way of life and to start working and developing flower cultivation – a field of action that he loved so much. At first he worked in the flower garden in Tzur Moshe, where he bought him the basic knowledge in the profession. Afterward he worked with his uncle Gershon, who also fell in the Yom Kippur War, and grew up in the yard of his home in Kfar Yona, where he cultivated various kinds of flowers and enjoyed his work: He interrupted his work and he was forced to transfer it to his family, who took his place. He loved to help others and was a loyal and devoted son to his parents. Avner was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early May 1972 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing his basic training, he completed his professional training at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba.
