Izmirli (Danieli), Yaakov


Son of Rina and Moshe-Yehuda. Born in the city of Feodosia, Crimea in the Soviet Union in 1919. Graduated with his parents to Eretz Israel in 1925. Studied cum laude at the Montefiore vocational high school and specialized in mechanical engineering, and was one of the first members of the Zevulun maritime school. When the school was closed, Yaakov Forken sought his energy and became a member of Maccabi Hatzair, and soon became one of the outstanding instructors in the Tel Aviv branch, which did not satisfy his turbulent spirit and nationalistic views. The “thugs,” founded by Abba Ahimeir, who later joined the Irgun. In July 1942, during World War II, he joined the British Army and was attached to the tractor unit. On December 19, 1944, Yaakov was killed in a car accident while he was studying in a vocational course in Egypt and was buried in the British military cemetery in Fayyad, Egypt, commemorated by his unit in the British Army.
