Izhakow (Bukhaor), Yakov (Jack)


Son of Sufka and Issac was born on September 5, 1930 in Sofia, Bulgaria. From his early days he aspired to Zion. He was a counselor for a group of Scouts, a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement and a member of the local leadership. He studied at the Gymnasium, but a few months before graduation, Yakov immigrated to Israel on the “Kedma” ship on April 17, 1948. As soon as he arrived, he accepted the call of the homeland. “When the war is over, all the members will gather together, and we will live a new and free life, as is the way of a free people in the world. ” On the 5th of Sivan 5708, June 12, 1948, upon his arrival at Dafna, Yakov was hit by the enemy shell and killed and brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Dafna.
