Itzhakov (Mishael), Moshe

Moshe, son of Malka and Shaul Itzhakov (Mishael), was born on 1 January 1930 in Haifa. When he was 14, he enlisted in the British army by presenting forged documents about his age, and only with great difficulty did his parents succeed in getting him out of the army. In 1944, immediately upon his forced release from the British army, he joined the Palmach recruits and spent two years at Kibbutz Tel Yosef. The Independence War broke out in Israel and Moshe hurried back to his unit in the Palmach. In Hulda, he participated in the battles on the road to Jerusalem. Moshe was wounded when he tried to save his injured friend, and he died on the 24th of Nissan 5708 (May 3, 1948). About three weeks before his death in his last letter to his parents, he wrote, “We will win, even with the last drop of blood, we are the young generation of the Palmach.”
