Itkis, Barak
Son of Ariela and Haim. He was born on the 17th of Sivan 5738 (22.6.1978). From childhood, he was very interested in airplanes and dreamed of being a pilot in the IAF, but a visual impairment prevented him from fulfilling his dream. When he enlisted in the IDF in November 1996, he volunteered to serve in the Navy in a combat track, and completed his basic training as an outstanding trainee. In January 1998 he successfully completed an officers’ course and was trained as a manpower and human resources officer. On the 12th of Shevat 5758 (February 8, 1998), Lieutenant-Colonel Barak Itkis fell in the line of duty when he was 20. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Sava, leaving behind his parents, brother and sister.
