Israeli, Yosef
Son of Chana and Eliyahu, was born on the 6th of Adar, 6 March 1930 in Tel Aviv. Immediately upon the outbreak of the War of Independence,
Yoske, as he was called by his friends, enlisted and served in the Givati Brigade, despite his being younger than the age of enlistment. He was sent to a training course. When Yosef finished, he was transferred to a course for squad commanders. On the 26th of Shvat 5708 (February 6, 1948), he went with his friends to train around Herzliya. In the darkness of the night, they lost their way and stumbled between two Arab villages near the village of Shmaryahu. They were ambushed and Yoske, who had gone first as a scout, fell on the spot. He was 17 years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
