Isaac, Lotan

Lotan, son of Rachel and Yosef Isaac, was born in Herzliya on October 11, 1979. In mid-November 1997 Lotan enlisted in the IDF, “He said. He completed the exhausting 18-month course in the sabotage and engineering corps, and stood out among his combat comrades. Lotan fell on the 23rd of Tevet (17.1.2001) during an excursion in Gabi Hava south of Sde Boker, where he traveled with his friend Gur. Once again, as they did in all previous trips, the two planned each detail carefully, like a military formation. They followed the path they had set until they suddenly saw a magnificent cliff, and they decided to deviate from their path and climb on it. Lotan climbed up first. From the edge of the cliff he turned to photograph his friend, then apparently slipped on a stone, fell to an abyss twenty feet high, and was killed on the spot. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. Lotan was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Herzliya. Survived by parents and sister.
