In Schweitz, Aaron (‘Ronnie’)

Son of Gunter and Miriam. He was born on the 12th of Adar 5713 (March 12, 1953) in Rishon Letzion. He completed his elementary studies at Habib School in Rishon Letzion and continued to study at the Amal School in Rehovot in the automotive mechanics program. Along with studying the professional material he also studied the regular subjects, like every student. Ronny was a sports fan and as a child played for Maccabi in the soccer field. After that he moved to Hapoel Bnei Zion and played as a regular player. He was a dedicated and loyal son of his family. He respected his parents and during times of financial distress at home he helped to support the family. After completing his professional studies, he began to work and stood on his own. This time, too, he continued his financial support for his parents. Roni was drafted into the IDF in early February 1971. After basic training, he underwent a course for heavy vehicle drivers and was sent as a driver to an armored unit, and was always a good soldier, devoted and responsible, always trying to do his job in the most effective manner and to the satisfaction of his commanders. At the end of March 1974, Roni was released from regular service and returned to his home, began working as a driver at Sid, and after his wife received a position in the planting department of Rishon Letzion. He was an exemplary father and husband, dedicated and caring for his family, and was sometimes called up for reserve service and always filled his room On the 13th of Adar 5737 (March 3, 1977), while serving in the reserves, Roni fell in the line of duty, brought to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion, and left behind his wife, daughter, parents, brother and sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Aharon wanted to be released from the last reserve duty so that he could help at home, but the heavy workloads imposed on the unit did not allow his release. All his friends and acquaintances, soldiers and commanders stunned and hurt his death “
