Imber, Meir


Son of Paula (Pesia) and Julius, was born on the 7th of Nisan 1928 in Gottstadt, Germany, and immigrated to Israel on 26 April 1937 and lived in Gan Yavneh. At the age of 14 he joined the Gadna, trained in various camps in Israel, and together with his class moved to the ranks of the Haganah, where he became a combat soldier in Gan Yavneh, Tel Aviv and Kfar Ata. In June 1948 he left with his regiment’s headquarters company in the vicinity of Jenin and took part in the battles, and after the invasion of the Jordan Valley was halted, our forces took the initiative and attacked the Gilboa area. “On the night of June 2-3, Jenin was conquered and conquered the outposts that control the city.” The Iraqi army, which moved to Samaria after its failure in the Jordan Valley. On May 3, 1948 during the course of carrying the mortar, Meir was hit by enemy fire and fell on the 20th of Av 5710 (3.8.1950).On the 20th of Av 5710 (3.8.1950) he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
