Ili, Remy
Son of Alexander and Masha. He was born on March 9, 1937, in Beit Hashita, where his spiritual development began in Beit She’arim and continued in Kfar Yehoshua, where he was Simcha for his parents and teachers, for he excelled in his studies – both humanistic and realistic. He was also interested in art and liked music, and as a child he helped his parents’ farm and worked with him out of love and his life in the future. After graduating from high school and completing compulsory military service (see below). But before he reached the age of conscription, he could not find his soul, because his ambition was to serve as a pilot in the air force. This desire came to him in his youth, after he was deeply shocked at the fall of two planes near his home; Then he began to see the good as an important role in the army and would say, “If I am not prepared to do so, who will?” But being a pilot will obligate him more than the usual period of compulsory service – and how can he be absent from home and leave the farm for such a long time ?! So he gave up his last year of school. After enlisting in the army, he took a pilot course and was considered an outstanding trainee. He fell in the line of duty on 8 February 1958 and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Beit She’arim, where his parents lived, and after his death he was promoted to lieutenant. Gilad was born in his memory in the Negev near Kibbutz Mashabei Sadeh
