Husserl, Uri
Born Bertha and Felix, was born on January 22, 1919 in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and immigrated to Israel in March 1935 aboard the ship “Colorado”. When he arrived, he joined the Kibbutz Sha’ar Hanegev of Hakibbutz Hameuchad. With the outbreak of World War II, he volunteered for the British Army and served there until the end of the war. Was active in the Communist Party and was willing to participate in all its activities. During the War of Independence he joined the army and served in the Carmeli Brigade. He often took on very difficult positions. He especially excelled in the battles for the liberation of Haifa. On the 22nd of Tishrei, 5709 (22.10.1948), he served as a liaison officer at the front of the Eastern Upper Galilee, and the armored car he was driving on board a mine. At that very moment the enemy opened fire from the ambush, and Uri fell into a trap. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
