Huiman, Erik (Salomon)

Son of Beatrice and Max. Erik was born in Chile on May 19, 1958. In 1966 his father died. Erik and his family immigrated to Israel in 1973, to Upper Nazareth. After graduating, Erik studied Hebrew in the ulpan and then studied for another year, but he stopped studying because he was the eldest at home and had to help his mother and four brothers with a living. Erik was a modest and kind fellow, he was not arrogant. In his free time he was collecting stamps and coins, and he liked to run long and short runs. Erik joined the army in May 1976. At the end of his service, he signed a service in the company in May of 1979. During his service he was a driver/combatant in the elite unit of the Border Police. His commander attests that Eric was given a responsible position in the department because he was brave, punctual and meticulous. He proved himself calm, fine and efficient. Received the operational service signal and the war signal of the Third Lebanon War, during the War of Independence in the Galilee, an explosion took place in a building in the city of Tire. The Israeli military government and many IDF forces were present. The building collapsed and about 100 people were killed, including seventy-six members of the Israeli security forces. Erik was twenty-four years old in his fall. He was buried in the cemetery in Nazareth Illit. Survived by a mother, two sisters and two brothers.
