Horowitz (Schory), Hagar


Daughter of Zvi and Hannah. Born on 20 December 1958 in Eilat, Hagar attended the Brenner elementary school in Herzliya and the Beit Berl high school in Kfar Saba. Hagar was a good student and excelled in Bible studies, literature and geography, and from a young age she was a member of Hashomer Hatzair youth movement and continued to work in the Herzliya canton until its enlistment in the IDF. Hagar loved art and was blessed with a developed sense of aesthetics. She was engaged in painting and handicrafts and even wrote poems and personal notes. Hagar was a Yaffa girl, very sensitive and friendly, so she was always surrounded by friends and friends. She liked helping people, helping her friends with her studies, and volunteering to guide youth in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Thanks to her modesty and openness she has met many people and has experienced many experiences; When she was 16, she studied meditation and adored the guru Maharishi. She then went on a trip abroad and returned full of new experiences and acquaintances. Two years before she enlisted in the IDF, she met friends who tried to persuade her not to enlist in the IDF, but was not influenced and found the way to insist. At home Hagar used to help the family whenever necessary. Hagar was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in July 1977. After basic training, she completed a professional course and was sent to an air force base in the north of Israel, but later became accustomed to the new lifestyle. “Hagar fulfilled her duties with honors and love,” says the unit commander, “she was a quiet, dedicated and responsible soldier.” On February 2, 1979, Hagar fell while serving in the center of the country. She was laid to rest in the military section of the Herzliya cemetery. Survived by her parents and two brothers
