Horowitz, Moshe


Son of Ita and Yitzhak. He was born on November 11, 1914, in Kaunas (Kovno), Lithuania. As a child he was orphaned from his father and at the age of nine was admitted to a children’s home in Kovno. He immigrated to Palestine in 1927 together with all the children of the children’s home and spent two years in the youth village of Ben-Shemen. At the age of fifteen he came with a group of friends from Ben-Shemen to the Tel Yosef farm. In May 1942, Moshe enlisted in the British Army, the mechanical equipment unit. R.E.M.E.) and soon became prominent in it and went from stage to stage until he reached a leading position. On 18 Adar, March 13, 1944, Moshe died in Egypt while performing his duties. The cause of his sudden death has not been ascertained. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Tel el-Kabir, Egypt. He left a wife and a daughter.
