Horoncik, Yehuda


Son of Avraham and Tzipora. He was born on September 28, 1948 in Rehovot. The parents, Holocaust survivors, arrived in the country of Aliyah Bet 2 through Cyprus in 1947. The spirit that prevails in their home from the first day of their marriage is traditional religious and in this spirit was brought up. Yehuda studied at the Beit Yaakov religious elementary school and completed his studies there. Afterward he studied and completed his studies at the ORT vocational high school in Rehovot. He belonged to Hapoel in the colony as a soccer player. He had some good qualities for Yehuda: humble, humble and gentle, cautious with respect, and even when he was angry with him, he used to say: “I forgive – and I do not forget.” Very devoted to his parents – and especially to his mother who is sick from the days of the camps – and willingly would give up the company and pleasures (such as cinema) to be with his parents. He made do with little and did not waste the pocket money he was given; He would spend this money for the purchase of reference books and the study of mechanics and languages. After completing his studies at ORT, he was drafted into the IDF in November 1966 and served in the Ordnance Corps, and he fulfilled his duties with dedication and courage. The Six Day War broke out, and Judah, who participated in the battle in Sheikh Zayed, Sinai, 6 June 1967. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and was later taken to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Rehovot, and in his letter of condolences to his parents, his commander stated his steadfastness and self-sacrifice, .
