Horev (Hegavi), Avraham (avi)

Son of Hamama and Yosef, was born in the small village of Sha’ba in Yemen in August 1947. My father immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel in the attic of the Magic Carpet in 1950. The family settled in the transit camp in Rosh Ha’ayin, “In Rosh Ha’Ayin, my father was a lively, quick, kind child in his pranks, and he was connected to his parents, respected them and often spent time with his family. He completed the course and received the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Paratroopers Brigade, and during the Six-Day War he took an active part in the battles in the Golan Heights, where he was promoted to lieutenant in September 1967. His commanders’ opinions on his service during those years were: “He shows initiative and caring “” The officer is efficient and disciplined. “His commanders and subordinates told him that he had a radiant personality, that he trusted and influenced those around him, and in November 1968 my father began to serve in the military army in Nablus. And my father excelled in both his actions to eradicate the terrorists’ nests and in his daily contact with the local population. After serving a long time in the service of the military government, my father was sent on a vacation abroad. He was transferred to service in the southern region, and acted against smugglers. My father was appointed commander of a Bedouin tracker unit and deep friendship was established between him and his subordinates, and between him and the Bedouin tribes in the Negev and Sinai, where he married and moved to his hometown of Rosh Ha’ayin in May 1972. That same year my father contracted a disease that restricted his combat ability. 16. In September 1974, my father was promoted to the rank of Major. In 1977 he began his studies in the IDF’s Central Command and Staff College, and was transferred to serve as an Operations Branch Officer in the Central District of the Ayalon District. His ability, his personality, and his devotion to the goal gave him the name of an officer who knows his way and is capable of carrying out any task assigned to him. In 1979 my father moved to the rank of lieutenant colonel, and moved to Rishon Letzion, dividing his time between his work in the IDF and his family. He decided to complete his general education, and began to study humanities at Tel Aviv University. My father was Simcha in his studies. He acquired new friends at the university, and at the same time continued to fulfill his role in the military system. In July 1983 he was hospitalized and died on July 22, 1983. My father was 36 years old when he died. After his death, his family received a certificate of appreciation from the IDF General Staff, signed by the chief of staff. The certificate reads: “A certificate of appreciation and honor for the memory of the late Colonel Horev, who died during his service in the IDF. Lt. Col. Avraham Horev served in the regular army, and he saw his service as a mission, and he was devoted and devoted to love.And his own life was cut short when he died. ” Avraham was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion. He left behind a wife, a son, three daughters, a mother, two sisters and a brother. His wife published a booklet in his memory
