Hoppenberg, Haim-Meir
Son of Pessia and Yosef, was born in 1911 in Poland. In his city he studied in an elementary school and was a member of the Gordonia youth movement. With great difficulty and agony, he set the stage for a pioneering life. He joined a training group and immigrated to Israel in 1935. For many years he was a member of the Mishmar Hasharon group and everyone recognized him as a devoted person to the life of the group, loving others, willing to help and help his friend at all times. From his first day in Israel he was a member of the Haganah and the first responders to every call to the agriculture. In the 1936 riots he was a guard, later he worked in the farm in Badamot, and in the outbreak of the War of Independence, he was again among those who stood up and served in the Alexandroni Brigade. On May 12, 1948, he was called to a special operation in the vicinity of Kfar Hess, for the battle of Tira. He fought as a machine gunner and fell the next day, on 4 May 1948, when an enemy bullet pierced his heart, and his friends who fought with him spoke with admiration of his courage and willingness to sacrifice during the retreat from the front. He was buried in the Tel Mond cemetery, he left a wife and two children.
