Homesh, Meir (“Roni”)


Son of Simcha and Rachel. He was born on January 19, 1932 in the city of Horochow, Poland. The family, Zionist in spirit and dedicated to the ideal-homeland, immigrated to Israel in 1936 and illuminates at the age of four. After graduating from the school for children of workers in Givat Hamoreh, he studied at the “Hugim” high school in Haifa and completed his studies there. He was a member of the Haganah and during the War of Independence he actively participated in the liberation of Haifa in the role of liaison and was also responsible for telephone at strategic points; Was not deterred by any role assigned to him. He showed great love for music and literature. His love for nature and hiking had no place in the country he had not visited. He was drafted into the IDF in May 1950. He fell in battle at the Jordan River near the Sea of ​​Galilee on the 6th of Nisan, 5701 (1951). He was buried in the military cemetery at Rosh Pina and on the 11th of Tevet 5702 (January 21, 1952) he was laid to rest at the civilian cemetery in Haifa.
