Hirsch, Mordechai (Moti)


Son of Shoshana and Dov, he was born on September 25, 1957, in Haifa. When he was three years old, his family moved to Kibbutz Kfar Giladi and stayed there for five years. When the family returned to Haifa, Moti began studying at the Habonim School in the Ramot Remez neighborhood and completed his studies at the Jerusalem Municipal High School in Neve Sha’anan, both in Haifa. Moti liked to play basketball, read science fiction books, thrillers, and so forth. His many friends liked to be close to him because they had a devoted friend and a soulmate. Moti was connected to his parents, a devoted son and a brother who loved his sister. Moti was drafted into the IDF on August 9, 1976. He was successfully promoted to the rank of sergeant, and was accepted to the Technion in Haifa and began studying in the industrial and management program. From time to time he went on reserve duty. He went to reserve duty without any hesitation or an attempt to evade his duty. Moti did not finish his studies. On 4 Tamuz, 25 June 1982, Moti fell in the line of duty. Left parents and sister. Moti was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
