Hirsch, Joseph (Joey)

Son of Aharon and Shoshana. He was born on April 13, 1952, in London. Where he visited a Jewish elementary school. At a young age, the qualities that characterized him afterwards were prominent – a fresh, alert spirit that sought to know everything and yet was calm and peaceful. Already then he was quick and meticulous, practical and self-confident. He had only been in London for two years. He continued his education in Israel, at the school on Kibbutz Maagan Michael where he came to Israel in 1960, together with his mother and his brother. As soon as he arrived at the children’s company in the kibbutz, he stopped using English speech and refused to study or progress in a different framework than that of his classmates. Nevertheless, he remained more than a little bit of English manners, and later in school he became particularly prominent in the real professions, and with his diligence he achieved considerable achievements in the Yamim, a profession he particularly loved. He gained complete control over the functioning of the boat, recognizing the importance of the seamen for kibbutz life on the seashore. For years he worked mainly in the orchard, and he showed a serious attitude, as befitting a serious person who prefers a thought to every action he has done. But this quality of seriousness did not detract from his sharpness of life and did not prevent him from enjoying everything, and he always had many and varied interests. When Joey was about to join the army, he learned that Joey was ready to go to Tyson, who knew well enough that he had a good chance of success.Joey began his basic training at the Flight School in May 1970. For him, But he knew how to deal with the challenge: He completed a parachuting course and completed various courses until he successfully completed a pilot’s course and received the pilot’s wings, rose to the rank of captain, and was an instructor in the flight school. He added that he had become even a little arrogant and very proud, and that his superiors’ report stated that he was a “quiet and devoted officer.” In the Yom Kippur War, In the course of his work in the Air Force, he met Shlomit from Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan, and in early August 1974 they married and began to build their own kibbutz, Their joint home was filled with enthusiasm and dedication, but their happiness was short: On the day of the 5th of Tevet 5765 (18.12.1974), Joey fell in the line of duty. He was brought to eternal rest in the land he loved so much, at Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael. He left behind a wife, parents and brother.
