Hirsch, Ephraim


Son of Bluma and Elimelech, was born on December 20, 1927 in Berlin, Germany, and grew up in peace and wealth. In 1933, when he was about five years old, the family immigrated to Israel. In his underground activities he would carry weapons in front of the British and in his safe appearance he would attack them.” Benayahu was his underground name. During the War of Independence he participated in battles around Tel Aviv. On the 21st of Nissan, April 30, 1948, he fell in battle to conquer the Manshiyeh neighborhood, on the Tel Aviv-Jaffa border during the “Hametz” operation to encircle Jaffa. He is buried in the Nahalat Yitzhak military cemetery.
