Hirsch, Arie (“Liova”)

Son of Zvi (Sigmund) and Sonia. Born in Tiflis, Russia, on 9.11.1934, Aryeh was a small child and after the father was taken to serve in the army, the family remained alone and completed his studies in an elementary school in his hometown. Aryeh and his sister joined the kibbutz in order to allow them to immigrate to Israel as soon as possible, and when Aryeh graduated from high school, he moved to Kibbutz Mesilot, He joined the regular army. He took an officer’s course and became an officer in the Paratroopers Brigade. He fell in combat on the 9th of Tishrei 5717 (13.9.1956) and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, after which he was promoted to lieutenant.
