Hirsch, Amos


Son of Otto and Ora. Born on 15.11.1950 in Haifa, he completed his elementary studies at the “Tel Hai” School in Neve Sha’anan and after graduating he studied at the Shprinzak Technical High School in Haifa. After a while he took part in the marches, and for a while he participated in the Hapoel group, Neve Sha’anan, the handball team. Later, before his military service, he established such a team in Kfar Yehoshua and was its coach In February 1969 he was drafted into the IDF and in the short period of his military service he was noted several times as an outstanding trainee. His main concern was for his widowed mother, who was left alone after he left for the army; Her second son also served in the army. At that time he put all his income at her disposal to balance her budget. He was fond of his friends and commanders, for among his outstanding qualities were his kindness and his willingness to come to the aid of others, his respect for adults was also respected. He also had a natural curiosity and a great deal of alertness, and everyone remembered him as a daughter who was worn on his face. He served for only a month and a half, because on the 27th of Nissan 5729 (26.3.1969) he fell in the line of duty and the next day he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
