Hieraldin, Sheriff
Ben Atar Wahib. Born on July 22, 1974 in Hurfeish, a Druze village in the Galilee. Brother to Naama, Amir, Anam, Amid, Amira and Walid. He studied at the Sultan Al-Tartash Elementary School in Hurfeish and continued to the Amal Technological High School in Shfaram, which he successfully completed in the armament course. He was a diligent student, very much in love with his teachers and friends. Sharif grew up and became a smiling young man who loved life, who helped as much as he could and was loved by all those around him. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement and took part in many youth activities on behalf of the movement and the school, whether in the village or outside it. Sheriff was very fond of sports. He was particularly fond of swimming in the sea, which reassured him. Sheriff also liked to hunt, and spent considerable time, considering the limitations of topography and law, for this hobby. In August 1992, Sherif joined the IDF and began his service as a combat soldier in the Druze unit, and after a year he was forced to leave the army for health reasons, and since then he has fought vigorously for his right to return to the IDF. For more than seven years he fought for this right, and when he was confirmed, he did not hesitate, and at the age of 27 returned to serve in the regular army to complete his compulsory service. In April 2001, Sharif was re-recruited and assigned to a special unit. Of the IAF on Mount Meron. He soon turned out to be a disciplined soldier with a strong, serious, ambitious and responsible character who did his best. His commander, Lt. Col. Zion: “Our way was to help the sheriff as much as possible, out of respect and appreciation for his adult age and the problems he faced. In all his appeals to us, Sheriff expressed a strong desire to continue, to advance, to reach positions in which he could be proud of his achievements. “Sharif served in a number of positions in the unit, especially in the vehicle department, and was sent to professional courses for promotion: On 21 August 2001 Sharif fell while serving at the age of twenty – seven and was laid to rest in the military section of the Hurfeish cemetery “I know without a doubt that such a journey, in which Sharif decided to return to the army despite everything, is a journey that only a few people with faith in their path will succeed in completing. Sheriff’s memory was reminiscent of Sheriff’s memory, and the family set up a monument in the village of Hurfeish, And a memorial room in the parents’ home.
