Heumann, Oscar


Son of Henrietta and Maurice was born in the city of Lachnik, Germany, and studied in a high school in 1934. In 1934, he immigrated to Israel and worked in Kfar Sava as a baker and confectioner, apparently studying this profession and working there while still in Germany. In the Second World War, he volunteered for the British Army and was captured in Greece and his captors wrote him in the Golden Book of the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael for his kindness and kindness toward them in the POW camp, In Holon, as a veteran member of the Hagana, he enlisted to defend the homeland during the War of Independence and served as a cook in a combat unit in the Palmach. Oskar fell on the road to Jerusalem, in a convoy that was attacked near Sha’ar Hagai on the 20th of Nissan 5708 (April 20, 1948) and was buried in Sanhedria. On the 23rd of Cheshvan 1953 (23.10.1952), he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
