Hertzig, Chaim (Kurt)


Son of Regina and max, born on January 1, 1919 in Berlin, capital of Germany, acquired a high school education and immigrated to Israel in 1934. In 1937 he was accepted as a student at the Kaduri Agricultural School near Mount Tabor. After completing his studies in 1939 and after a short period of practical agricultural training in Nehalal, he became an agricultural instructor, first working as a counselor in the settlement organization “tlamim” (now Moshav Moledet in the Lower Galilee) and later in Kiryat Shtand near Kfar Ata in the Zevulun Valley there he settled down and got married . Since 1936 he was an active member of the Haganah. He underwent many military courses and integrated his agricultural training with military training. He was a guard and participated in the construction of “Homa and Migdal” settlements. Was responsible for the defense of Kiryat Shtand and later was one of those responsible for security in the Kfar Ata area. Haim fell on the 11th of Adar 2, 5708 (March 22, 1948) from a bullet fired accidentally by one of his friends during a tour of a military camp in Kiryat Shtand, after this camp was abandoned by the Arab Legion. He was buried in Kfar Ata. He left a wife and a son. On the 16th of Kislev 5711 (November 16, 1950) he was transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Haifa.
