Hertzberger, Hanan
Son of Ida and Meches, was born on January 3, 1914 in Berlin. When he graduated from high school, he went to work. His hobby was photography. He joined the pioneering movement. In 1936 he went to pioneering training in the city of Frankfurt am Main, and in 1938 he moved to Schnibchen, where he became a counselor in the Habonim youth movement and immigrated to Israel in 1939. He joined the “Habonim” group at Beit Hashita and joined the ” He worked for a few years as a storekeeper, and later in a profession he acquired in Israel – in baking and in leisure time he continued to engage in his hobby – photography, his artistic photographs depict the House of Arava. The Arava passed on 20.5.1948 with all the members of his group to Sodom and entered with them into the IDF framework. From his letters to his wife, one can see the destruction of the Arava House and the negotiations with the Jordanian Legion. He fell on the 28th of Iyar 5708 (June 5, 1948) with a heavy artillery bombardment of the Sodom camp, which came as the enemy’s reward for the attack by the forces of Transjordan in Transjordan. He left a wife and two children. His memory was placed on the pages of the booklet “Beit Ha’Arava”. On the 26th of Shvat 5710 (6.2.1950) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya.
