Hertz, Yehuda (Judka)

Hertz, Yehuda (Judka)

Son of Sarah and Shimon, was born on July 7, 1922 in Germany. From the age of 11 he belonged to the Habonim youth movement and immigrated to Israel as part of the Youth Aliyah in 1939. His family perished in the Diaspora. He received his training in Givat Brenner and Ashdot Yaakov. In 1943 he joined Kibbutz Revivim. He was a member of the “Magen” company for three years and in 1945 enlisted in the Nutras. He was very devoted to his job and kept the weapons very carefully. He worked in agriculture and wanted to work in the field. He called Kibbutz Revivim and loved the place. Be kind and friendly. With this he was a loner and showed great affection and devotion to his only companion, the dog. His loneliness also brought him to the despondency of the soul and several times he said to commit suicide. But lately there has been a lot of change. He had wished for a meeting with one girl during his leave, but had not. On the 14th of Tevet 5708 (14.12.1947) he accompanied a convoy of water on the way to Beit Eshel, but the convoy was ambushed, and although the battle was short, he emptied four cartridges out of his rifle, but was finally hit in the back of the neck.
