Hershenzon, Zvi-Ephraim


Son of Tama and Moshe. was born on May 12, 1927, in the city of Zysniki, Poland, where he studied in a “cheder” and a Polish elementary school in 1939. In 1939, when the Nazis occupied Poland, And his parents were sent to Siberia, where the entire family worked, and the young Zvi, who was in the process of cutting wood in 1941, was liberated from Siberia and moved to central Asia for a Soviet kolkhoz. Zvi arrived in Austria, where he worked as a member of the Gordonia youth movement and underwent training in the Haganah, and for weeks he was absent from the house, preparing for the new positions in Israel. Upon the outbreak of the War of Independence, he immigrated to Israel and was sent with reinforcements to the Carmeli Brigade for the Manara area for training and work. On August 27, 1948, after completing his training with a rifle squad, At noon, a huge explosion was heard in which Zvi was killed and buried in Manara On the 19th of Av 5710 (2.8.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
