Herschel, Nehemiah
The youngest son of Sarah and Joseph, was born on May 7, 2828 in Jerusalem. He studied at the Yavneh Talmud Torah in Jerusalem and at the Tiferet Israel Yeshiva in Haifa, then worked as a volunteer at the Ata factory, and joined the Jewish Settlements Police in 1946. He rose to the rank of squad commander. During the War of Independence he volunteered and served in the “Carmeli” Brigade and took part in the road security in the vicinity of Haifa, and fell on April 13, 1948, in the defense of Ramat Yohanan. At his death had a smile on his face. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in the village of Ata.
