Hermon, Elhanan (Ronald)
Son of Sarah and Yehuda, was born on December 2, 1925, in London, the capital of England. In London Elhanan grew up and was educated. At the age of 18, he completed his undergraduate studies at the university and was certified as a chemical engineer. Until his arrival in Israel Elhanan managed to work for six years as a research chemist. In 1949 Elhanan married a wife. At first the couple lived in London and in 1950 the two immigrated to Israel and settled in the city of Haifa. Elhanan was recruited to the IDF in late February 1951, and was naturally assigned to continue his work in the Science Corps. As part of the corps he underwent various courses, and was even authorized to serve as an officer. Until his release, Elhanan served as research officer. His commanders noted that he “fulfills his duty to the satisfaction of his commanders, who is knowledgeable and experienced in his work.” Elhanan volunteered for an additional period of service. At the end of October 1953, Lt. Elhanan was released from the IDF and spent 15 years working in “Fertilizers and Chemicals” in the Haifa Bay, where he was recruited to work as a member of the Defense Ministry in the defense industries. Elhanan moved to the ranks of the Civil Defense Forces, but he refused and continued to serve as a regular soldier and was assigned to another infantry unit On the 15th of Sivan 5739 (June 15, 1979), when he went home after reserve service, Forever in the military cemetery in Haifa.
